Profile of Keith James

Keith James has built up a quality design practice for the discerning property owner/planner/developer. His small award winning team undertakes commissions of all sizes and diversities, both in Britain and overseas. Personally involved in every project undertaken, he has devoted his unique practice and expertise to provide a first class service of innovation and design for many successful clients, both in the private sector, which takes up 75% of his business, and the commercial sector specialising in hotels, head offices, public buildings, tourism and natural attractions.

Keith's range of successes includes awards for Chelsea Gardens and other major gardening shows, superior show garden and exhibition gardens for national shows and corporate clients in Australia. Germany, France and the USA - including the "Daily Telegraph", "House and Garden" magazine, Andrew Martin International (the world's foremost international interior design company) and produced gardens from the hurricane hit shores of the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, to the mountains of Scotland and Turkey. Keith thrives on a challenge of diversity and has an eye for detail, particularly in the new link areas (inside to outside) of buildings. He works closely with a number of celebrity interior designers.

A born innovator, Keith spent 20 years before becoming a landscape Garden and Exterior designer in senior management within the hotel/tourism sector as a design innovator. Ten years of this time as a successful management consultant and image innovator for specialist hotel and tourism projects, including gardens, marinas, zoos and golf courses. With the ability to get on with anybody, using his great sense of humour, his greatest talent is the ability to bring out the best in peoples thoughts and ideas, through questionnaires and through research into his projects and the personalities of his private clients. Combined with 30 years of design experience in flow patterns, external needs and changing fashions. He has the ability to create atmospheres in gardens conclusive to lifestyles, environment and modern living principles, or recreate a timeless wonder of a garden taken from history; i.e. Roman, English Country, Oriental, or Period garden.

Keith writes regular articles in leading living magazines, plays golf, hockey, and has a fondness for good food, good architecture and the natural environment.
